There are several possibilities for winter pots. . Isolate It gets all the pot in a protected (from winter winds, usually from the west and north) and surround them with straw, stuffed with straw, leaves or more spaces. The goal is to keep the freeze bales.

When the plants are in soil, the soil itself an insulator. Even when the ground freezes in Ohio, usually an inch down, it is not frozen.

You can dig a hole and sink the pots into the soil, soil mulch of leaves or straw. If you choose this option, you can expand as cheap black plastic glasses in the system ( "work shoes"), and only on slides, elegant pots ( "Shoe City") for growing season, and what is simply on the ground, work and all the shoes slip, no matter how clean the boat fare. I do not want (on the pot into a luxury winter, sink into the ground).

In addition, over the pot, the easier it is for the winter. Small pots freezes fasterAnd therefore it must be thicker insulation for the winter.

Liriope get a giant .. with young people who grow too .. They are evergreen and difficult to kill ... keep the pots are cooler than in the ground covered with a layer, it will be difficult, things alive in the winter in a pot .. need to insulate the inside of the pot to ... but make sure that they do not cover the drain if it is not too wet.
